You can drop an awful lot of excess baggage if you learn to play with life instead of fight it.

Unbeknownst to most fun-loving bipeds, not all stress is bad. Indeed, the New Rich don’t aim to eliminate all stress. Not in the least.

The only thing we all have in common is that we play tricks in order to force ourselves to abandon the quest. The counter-measure is to persist in spite of all the barriers and disappointments.

If you are discouraged it is a sign of pride, because it shows you trust in your own powers. Never bother about other people's opinions. Be humble and you will never be disturbed. Remember St. Aloysius, who said he would continue to play billiards even if he knew he was going to die. Do you play well? Sleep well? Eat well? These are duties. Nothing is small for God.

Legendary violinist Isaac Stern was once confronted by a middle-aged woman after a concert. She gushed, "Oh, Id' give my life to play like you!" "Lady," Stern said acidly, "that I did!"

As it is with a play, so it is with life—what matters is not how long the acting lasts, but how good it is.

How do you want to live your life? How do you want to play the game? Do you want to play in the big leagues or in the little leagues, in the majors or the minors? Are you going to play big or play small? It’s your choice.

Poor people choose to play the role of the victim.

Don’t play in someone else’s universe. Define your own.
