Self-Acceptance
“…strong people always have the confidence to accept themselves. Self-criticism and low confidence block us from our own brains. We have all experienced that block; when we are frightened or intimidated our minds go blank. It is so different from the easy flow of ideas that comes when we are self- accepting and confident.” William Glasser M.D., from the book Positive Addiction
So, basically it serves us to be confident eh!?! :) I always new that self criticism is something that is beneficial for me to do. But I never knew that it blocked me from my brain! I can now see all the times when I have been critical and feeling a lack of confidence, I don’t feel connected to myself and I feel stuck!
I have experienced this many times in an intense conversation with someone. When I feel tension I can sometimes feel frightened and my mind goes blank. When I feel anger towards me, my mind goes black. It is awesome to know that now I just need to re-connect to my brain, breathe and up my confidence by thinking positive thoughts!
It is a great exercise to observe when we are blocking ourselves from our brains. This is not the place we want to be living from. We want to connect, open, and expand our brains so that more creativity, love, innovation coming pouring out of us!!
Let’s accept ourselves and commit to being confident and watch our brains transform! How FUN!
